Luiz André Gama

Luiz André Gama

Italy

Luiz André Gama is a Brazilian new media artist based in Italy, working with generative art, video installations, and live video performances. He employs visual programming environments, such as TouchDesigner and Vuo, to craft works rooted in experimentation and a deep exploration of the still-unmapped possibilities within the universe of digital art. Born in 1978 in Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais, Brazil, he spent several years working as a creative director in advertising agencies and design studios before becoming a multimedia artist in 2003. In 2007, he was the resident VJ at Privilege Ibiza in Spain, the world's biggest club, and participated in major events worldwide, performing alongside artists such as David Guetta, Paul van Dyk, Sven Väth, Ferry Corsten, Ricardo Villalobos, Mauro Picotto, Miss Kittin, etc. His series and digital explorations span a wide spectrum, from figurative to abstract, from mathematical to hypnotic and rhythmic, constantly playing with perception and the relationship between new technologies and human beings.
